Aufbruch, a documentary directed by Philipp Link, tells the story of two young refugees from Iran and India over the course of two years in Stuttgart. Ensuing from an integrative theater-project for young refugees, the film accompanies Kimia (15) and Rohit (17) on their journey to a new home and identity. The film focuses on dealing with the past and looking at the road ahead. The illustrations are showing childhood memories and stories of Kimia’s and Rohit’s past. The challenge of the project was to reflect the protagonists' stories accurately and with the right sensitivity. The drawings should respectfully capture the protagonists’ past and visualise their memories for the audience.
